A Glimpse into Summer with Nathanael Obadiah and Leon Lewis

Summer is quickly approaching, and we are more than ready for warm weather and to hear all about what our students have planned for the upcoming season.

Nathanael Obadiah, a student in our EQUIP program, is just one of many students who has big plans for the summer. He plans to spend two weeks in Nigeria on a mission trip. Last year, this mission trip had an effect on 750 families. He is hoping they can serve 1,000 families this time through their donations of clothing and food as well as through providing of medical assistance. They’re targeting Islamic environments and hope to see many baptisms.

Because Nathanael will be going on this trip with someone who owns an orphanage in China, he is hoping that they will be able to start an orphanage in Nigeria this summer as well.

Aside from going to Nigeria for two weeks, Nathanael will also be serving as a youth ministry intern at South Main Church of Christ in Weatherford, Texas. There he will get to be a part of a church camp with the youth as well as go on a mission trip with them to Mexico for two weeks.

Leon Lewis leading singing at Saturn Road Church of Christ

On March 17, 2024, Leon Lewis visited the Saturn Road Church of Christ in Garland, Texas. He traveled with Dr. Jason Darden, assistant professor of Bible, who was speaking at the congregation. Leon was ecstatic to be able to lead singing for this group of people. He knows the preacher and thought it to be an honor that he was given the opportunity. It was a new experience for Leon, being his first time in Texas and at the Saturn Road Church of Christ. He says the congregation has about 600 members. If you know Leon, you also know he is a huge food connoisseur. He had nothing but good things to say about the food in Texas and thinks it was worth the 5.5 hour drive. They have asked him to return to the congregation this summer and that is what he plans to do.

As always, Nathanael and Leon, as well as the remainder of our EQUIP students, are in our prayers. Please join us in praying for them to finish their semester off strong, have great fun and much influence this summer, and to keep earnestly seeking God.
